About the Event
Superheroes aren't just for blockbuster films and tv series anymore. Now, YOU can be a superhero at Heroes Assemble: The Con With a Cause!
Richmond-based non-profit Geek Wellness Education is hosting their first comic convention fundraiser at Regency Square Mall on September 18th-19th and, whether you arrive in costume or not, you can help people in need just by having fun with your family.
Appearing in person to meet fans will be several heroic Hollywood celebrities. Confirmed guests include Juliana Harkavy (Black Canary on Arrow), Stella Smith (Artemis on Stargirl) Stefan Kapicic (Colossus in Deadpool 1 and 2), Olaniyan Thurmon (Teen Groot in the blockbusters Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame) and Power Rangers Catherine Sutherland (the Pink Ranger on Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, Turbo and Zeo), Nakia Burrise (the Yellow Ranger on Power Rangers Turbo and Zeo) and *appearing on 9/19 only* Brennan Mejia (Dino Charge Red on Power Rangers Dino Charge).
In addition, several nationally known cosplayers and regional costume groups representing Ghostbusters, Star Wars and GI Joe will be on hand for photo ops, as will the Hampton Roads Droid Builders, a replica of a Jurassic Park jeep and an original Pokemon VW Beetle. There will also be over 100 vendors, published authors and comic artists to browse, as well as educational groups such as the Richmond, Virginia Lego Users Group, The Carolina Manga Library and the Central Virginia Funko Pop Collectors. There will also be a costume contest for the public, as well as celebrity Q&A's and other fun and informational panels.
Children 10 and under get in free, and 100% of the profits will go to GWE's mission to serve the mental health needs of our community.
Tickets and information can be found on GWE’s website at https://gwecontact.org/convention-info ###
